A day in the life of …

There’s fiery ash inside my lungs

Burnt up cancer lurking on my tongue.

My liver is pickled from apathetic drinking,

body screams in protest every time I think bout sinking:

one more shot of whiskey,

one more pint of beer.

A stumble in confusion of how I wound up here.

And I can’t help but think I’m an absolute failure.

But it’s this stupid fucking town that’s got me so frustrated.

  1. What a great poem! Raw, personal and untethered, just as poetry should always be.

Thank you so much for following me at, “Through The Cracked Window”, I truly appreciate it.
